DISCOVER NORTHEAST LOS ANGELES

The historic, eclectic and diverse communities of Northeast Los Angeles grew from the gentle valley and hillsides along the Arroyo Seco, stretching in between Downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena.

Discover Northeast Los Angeles

The neighborhoods are now cross-cultural and dynamic, but much of their character can traced to Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Arts and Crafts Movement celebrated individualism, creativity and pride of craftsmanship as a rebuttal to the Industrial Revolution , and as a counterpoint to Victorian formality.

The spirit of the Arts and Crafts Movement continues today as a vital and thriving Arts Community rooted in Northeast Los Angeles.

Along with the Resource Fair there will be live and DJ music.

Community groups, families and local organizations and businesses and others are encouraged to join the march and bring organizational / identificational banners or signs. March signs will also be provided. This march and resource fair is being held in response to the violence in the streets of NorthEast LA, the crimes against the person, such as shootings / drive-bys / robberies / assaults / rapes / batteries. Summer is the time when these crimes escalate and so we are taking to the streets to march and declare:Peace in the NorthEast: Stop the Violence.

"Though we are many we are One." 1Cor 12:12
At a recent Churches of NorthEast LA Monthly Breakfast Gathering Chief Murphy challenged the churches to become involved in helping to reduce crime in the streets of the NorthEast LA area. In immediate response the churches and other religiously-based community organizations represented at the meeting said let's do a peace march and so was born the Peace in the NorthEast Community March, which has become an annual march.
