Miriam Jackson

Miriam Jackson

Currently based in San Pedro, I travel the surrounding areas painting plein air landscapes. I build at own canvasses, repurposing scrap wood from a cabinet shop, a wooden screen door shop, the alley and other places where discarded wood appears. I prime them with discarded house paint. I enjoy the versatility, texture and blending of oil paint. As well as the realness of painting in front of my subject, often outdoors in the elements. The magic happens during the silence of the painting session as I become more aware of surrounding visuals and sounds. It is at this time that I can truly appreciate the beauty in things. I try to convey this through my work.
