12th Annual Eagle Rock Music Festival Today, October 2

Today, Saturday, October 2, 2010 -- 4:00PM - 11:00PM -- THE 12TH ANNUAL EAGLE ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Eagle Rock Music Festival welcomes the eclectic, local lineup for which it is known, highlighting the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Los Angeles music scene.

Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock experiments with a multitude of genres to create the truly original experience that has paved the way for many other community music festivals.

This afternoon from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Colorado Boulevard is closed to vehicle traffic and open to pedestrians between Eagle Rock Boulevard and Argus Street.

Musicians perform at eleven unique venues ranging from auto shops to formal stages to historical buildings, and even a motel balcony along the Boulevard.

Classic rock band ANN LIKES RED, a NELA favorite, will perform TWO sets at Columbo's Restaurant. The first set in the outside patio at 4:00 PM, and the second set, inside the restaurant at 7:00PM

 Eagle Rock Music Festival, Saturday, October 2, 4:00PM to 11:00PM

 Bonne Musique Zydeco stakes their claim each year on the balcony of the Eagle Rock Welcome Inn Motel.

"Bonne Musique Zydeco (BMZ), literally "good zydeco music," is a 6-member band specializing in the Creole music of Louisiana and east Texas. BMZ draws upon the style of traditional Cajun and Creole musicians, and the influences of the blues and New Orleans artists of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s to create a blend of music designed for dancing.  Zydeco is a mix of rock ’n roll, blues, Caribbean and R&B music. But it’s not rock ’n roll or blues music, it’s zydeco. "

Eagle Rock Music Festival, Saturday, October 2, 4:00PM to 11:00PM

The Ranz Auto parking lot is one such unique venue. 

The Eagle Rock High School Latin Jazz Band will perform on the Rantz Stage at 7:00 PM.

This year, Free the Robots will appear on Low End Theory Stage (located near The Coffee Table Bistro)

"Chris Alfaro is Free the Robots. The genre-defying artist pulls together heavy doses of traditional jazz, psych, electronic and hip-hop, with progressive melodies and devastating drums into a rich pot of sound. His techniques create harmony between genres with the blending of obscure samples with analog and digital compositions."

The Eagle Rock Music Festival happens on Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock; the street is closed to auto traffic between Eagle Rock Boulevard and La Roda Drive. 

Musicians perform at eleven unique venues along the route ranging from auto shop parking lots to formal stages to historical buildings, and even a motel balcony.

Drunk on Crutches serves up smoky, sultry, rockin' Americana at 6:00 PM on the KingSize Stage located near Panang Restaurant.

Countdown to Eagle Rock Music Festival October 3: Dusty Rhodes and the River Band

Dusty Rhodes and the River Band will perform at the Eagle Rock Music Festival October 3.

The band is out of Orange County; The Dusty Rhodes sound is a mix of rock, country and folk. The "Influences" listed on the Dusty Rhodes MySpace page reads like a canonical Who's Who's of classic rock.

Countdown to Eagle Rock Music Festival October 3: Random Patterns

Local NELA band Random Patterns will perform at the Eagle Rock Music Festival October 3. Look for Random Patterns on the Legion Hall Stage at 4:00 PM.

The Random Patterns sound has been called "soulful psychedelia" and "post jazz". The band is a member of the Heard of Elephants Collective, a collection of professional artists and musicians based in Los Angeles focused on providing a means to experience, view, create and explore art.

Local NELA Band Artichoke will perform at the Eagle Rock Music Festival on October 3.  Look for Artichoke on the kid's stage at 7:45PM.

Artichoke's MySpace page tells us Artichoke is best known for 2 concept records about scientists, one for every letter of the alphabet, called "26 Scientists, Volume One: Anning - Malthus" and "26 Scientists, Volume Two: Newton - Zeno." The New York Times science section focused attention on Volume One when it was released in 2005
